Let’s design your path to success

Whilst there is no single magic bullet for the realities of today’s business environment, there are some simple practical solutions that can be implemented. I have walked the miles and fully understand the complex business environment leaders are constantly navigating through.

About Deb

I loved helping my Dad build things when I was in my teens. We built fences, decks and, at one point, fitted out the interior of the family Bach.

I always remember Dad’s favourite saying: “measure twice, cut once.” Usually, it was said after something had already gone wrong and he hadn’t taken his own advice.

What I loved most about those projects was the practical, pragmatic way we solved problems together. We would often start with what looked like the immediate issue, only to realise the real challenge sat somewhere underneath it.

That has become a consistent theme throughout my career.

Today, I work predominantly in the construction sector, supporting Founders, CEOs and SLTs of $2m–$200m businesses as they navigate leadership under pressure, team alignment and strategy execution through growth and change.

I work with leaders in situations where the context has shifted enough that the old ways of doing things no longer work. A different approach is needed.

I’m always fascinated when I come across a building or infrastructure project. I can’t help but think about everything it took to create it; the ideas, decisions, collaboration, setbacks, learnings and sheer determination to get it completed.

I also enjoy the fact that construction has no fat. There is nowhere to hide. The decisions leaders make today directly impact both the bottom line and their people. That’s why I believe it’s critical to properly understand the problem we are trying to solve and use well validated information to help create the right solution.

Construction is full of hardworking people who genuinely want to do good work. The work I do with Founders, CEOs and SLTs is rarely about capability being absent. More often, the leadership systems underneath the business haven’t kept pace with growth, pressure or complexity.

When we work together, I’m all in. I’ll partner with you to achieve meaningful outcomes while helping you look clearly at the real challenge being presented.

Why Construction?

Outside of work, I love exploration and experiences. In particular, I enjoy long walks. Very long walks, like walking 1,100 kilometres across Spain. I’m a seasoned Camino pilgrim and love the simplicity that comes with that experience.

I also love the sea, and my partner is teaching me how to sail — a skill I haven’t fully mastered yet, but one I thoroughly enjoy learning.

Sustainable Leadership

And so …

I love solving problems, particularly the kind that sit beneath the surface and quietly influence performance, relationships and results.

Sometimes the biggest shift comes from simply creating the space to properly think things through with someone outside the business.

The best place to start is usually with a conversation. A chance to understand what’s happening in your world, what challenges you’re navigating, and whether we would be a good fit to work together.
